the less teeth you have on the rear sprocket the more top end. vice versa.

keep the stock gears or even add 3 teeth to the rear. I wouldn't put higher gears on because the bike does not have enough power, I have the irc gp1 50 50 tire, seems to be good on and off road.

The stock gearing setup is fine for top end. After the carb and exhaust mods it's pretty easy to get the KLX up to 85-90 but make sure you have a change of underwear with.

The best setup for a higher top end is a larger displacement bike, preferably something that doesn't grab so much air.

If you insist on going faster on this bike, a motard setup, preferably with a low front fender, for obvious reasons.

+ 1 on that! I did some top speed runs and my bike was faster with the 13/45 when the bike was stock. If you have a pipe and the bike is dialed in I think the 13/42 would get it the fastest. The stock gearing is like an overdrive in sixth, even with a bike that is lightly modded it wouldn't reach max RPM's in top gear.

This bike is really unstable when you get around 80 I wouldn't try going any faster. If youdo it anyway, try a set of street tires and a supermoto front fender. That would help some.

I recommend a set of Dunlop D607's for street and they are very stable (the front is a sportsman SM tire and the rear is a trailmax for the 18" size) and i have not experienced any head shake up to about 85mph (95 on the speedo) I have not tried to do this more than the one time I did trying to outrun a thunderstorm.besides a big bore kit I don't think it's worth trying to swap gearing to go "faster" as 1st gear simply becomes too tall for a pullout without abusing the clutch.
