I tried removing the air filter to install the carb boot the other day. It couldn't have been easier! Just reach down in there and pop the shock side of the boot over the air box spigot.

Actually, it went so fast I can't remember now if I used a long T handle 8mm driver to reach in there or my hand.. I know I can get a couple fingers on it, but don't recall which I did exactly

The Kaw boot is so flexible it's effortless going at it this way.



- You need to have the backfire screen removed from your bike to be able to do that of course

Heat gun works best for me.

You have not lived if you have not done a four cylinder with stiff old boots. NIGHTMARE...... The KLX is a walk in the park.

Lately I've using WD40 on the inside of the air box end of the boot with no tool. The quickest way EVER for me!

I get the near side over the air box spigot, and shove the rest of it to the back side, and it just pops into place so nicely!

+1 on that - removing/putting back the carbs on the 89 Concours I had was a nightmare. The KLX is soo much easier. A little wd40 does help make it even easier, though.
