Default THE tool for installing carb boot

I have seen it asked a few times. This is what I use to put that pesky hose from the carb to the air cleaner back on. It makes the job much easier.

I have a set of 6 with different style tips and lengths. This one is the simplest and can be found by different makers so the price would be better than my buying a set from Snap On.

I have good luck spraying the carb & rubber boot with WD-40. Slips right in with the stock cvk or the fcr carb.

From the top drop the carb in sideways front pointed left. Push back turning the carb into the rubber airbox boot. Push it back into the airbox boot until it flexes like an accordion. Then put the front of the carb in the intake flange on the cylinder. Yes not alot of room but its worked for both carbs.

I also use a similar tool to help the boot over the lip.

I used one of my bicycle tire spoons. Worked like a charm.

On my old Concours, I always used three different sized screwdrivers, often poking a hole in the last boot and having to start over. Twasn't the end of the world, because a new boot is soo much more flexible! Grunty noises and cussing were the only lubricants I used.

I haven't pulled the carb on the KLX... I can only imagine that a single boot would be a breeze!

Good idea for a tool!

I do the WD40 and a small screwdriver trick but you need to be really careful you don't damage the rubber and cause a tear.
