I was on the fence with it forever, but since I need a new tank anyway (mines got a hole in it and is full of jb weld) I figured it wouldnt hurt to give it a shot, since i dont like the milage i get with the stocker. If the stocker wasnt broke, I would have just left it for sure.

I got a black tank and used some black electrical tape on the "tabs" on the shrouds.
I once got 109 miles out of a full tank with the 331cc and the TM34 -- hit reserve around 90 miles and didn't finally run out of gas, but I imagine that I was close.

Good for you, man.....could you post some pics of the tank when you receiveit? I am curious to see if you get a nice looking one..I remember someone else got one with a few imperfections on it, but if you get a "pretty"one, then I would assume they have gotten a new mould toeliminate the imperfections on the exposed part of the tank...just curious to see. Also, you said they fixed the leak problems for sure? and i wonder if they finally got rid of the early models that did have leak concerns.
oh, yeah and don't forget an installed pic as well, I think you may be the first with a green one, but I am not sure..that would be my color choice as well, when the time comes.

I think that the gap comes from not the shrouds fitting properly but the seat is actually raised up slightly to make room for more gas. I guess for the price you can't argue though. You can get a new stock 300 tank that holds the same amount of gas for around $500 plus having to buy new shrouds. Someone one here had cut the lip off of the shrouds that is exposed with the clear tank and it looked like the gap should have been there.

hmmmm that being said...would a heavy bastard like myself have troubles with putting strain on the tank if the seat is resting more on it? it being plastic and all.

No problem there, like I mentioned in the other thread, It is extremely difficult to get the top seat mount to slide on in place. I'm guessing that there are several that don't have it latched where it belongs. The fatter tank plus the stiff plastic seat bottom contribute to it being difficult to get on. I think it was Mordan that mentioned that he had to do quite a bit of adjusting on the top mount to get his seat on properly. I found this to be the case too.

a little of both. The mount on the tank needed to be extened to actually raise it higher. The bracket on the seat had to have the opening filed out about 1/16" to fit over their sleeve(on the mounting bolt)

I think someone thought of this at the same time I did, but here's how I solved the seat to tank mount issue.
I got a sleeve at the hardware store and cut it to length (a little bit of trial and error to get the length just right) and now the it fits. This is probably how Clarke should have done it in the first place.
...and you can see the black electrical tape that I used to cover up the lip of the shroud.
