Default Too many chains...

Just too many chains and sprockets to choose from. What do you guys suggest? I'm going with a 14/47 combo.

Aluminum or steel sprocket? X-ring or an o-ring chain? How many links will I need?

Thanks

The parts guy told me to just go with a standard DID chain. O-Ring chains are overpriced and take away power. I forgot who makes my 45 back sprocket, I think its JTR or JRT or something like that, I'm too lazy to walk down to the warehouse here at work to look.

I bought Primany Drive brand from Rocky Mountain MC that was quite a bit cheaper than DID or Renthal and appears to be good quality. I don't have many miles on them though, so can't say for sure howthey will hold up. I went with the aluminum sprocket for some weight savings but probably doesn't make that much difference. My preference is to use an o or x ring chain as the life should be substantially longer and requires less maintenance. I also went the cheap route because I wasn't sure if I would like the gearing and didn't want to be out a bunch of money for something that I might not keep.

power loss with an o-ring? please. it's a rubber circle.
Hmmm.....I have heard this many times. With a 450 or something you would never notice but with this little 250 I bet it will make a difference. My friends chain is STIFF, very hard to move the links. You think this wont matter? I do want a maintanance free chain though....sheesh.

there's not enough power to the rear sproket to worry abouteither. they'll both work fine so the best price wins. my opinion.
