If I'm riding off-road, I'm wearing as much protection as I possibly can.. Boots are a HUGE thing for me.. I have a buddy that was riding wearing just steel toe work boots.. He was going down a trail, and the tip of his toes caught a rock.. That pushed the toes down under the peg, and broke all five metatarsal bones in his foot. Was in a wheel chair for 8 months..

Here's his X-ray - all five metatarsals snapped in half.

It's not worth it to skimp on protective gear if you're riding off-road!!!!

After seeing that, I'm not stepping out of the shower unless I got my boots on!

Man, that's gotta hurt!

The only protective gear I have at this point are a helmet and gloves. I guess I need to start putting some of my cash into gear before more bike mods.

Gear first; I didn't do suspension upgrade until I could also buy a neck brace I knew I would be going faster and riding harder.............
fell off a small cliff at this years Odessa 100 then had the bike come dowm and land on me.......
minor injuries to me & bike was safe thanks to the soft Pad in landed on.......
rode away with no worries!

thats what I get for using a 250 to try keeping up with a 426

I agree on gear is cheeper than repairs. I actually had my sidi boots, knee and elbow pads on order before I found a good helmet I liked.

FYI clip your toenails. Gross i know. But it sure helps when you do kick a rock and that toenail slams up agiant the inside of the boot. That sucker will come off in no time, very painfull. Also makes riding 100 miles in the desert a lot mor painfull every time you shift with that toe.
Now that I've made you vomit inside your moth, have a good day.

LOL!...and don't forget...you get longer life out of your good dirt riding socks with trimmed nails. Now...lets move on to that nagging athlete's foot.
