Default Tm36-68?

What other applications is the TM36-68 Mikuni used on?

I don't think the Mikuni TM36-68 was ever manufactured as an OEM carb for a specific bike. There are some OEM bikes equipped with Mikuni pumpers that have very similar characteristics, but I believe the TM was designed as an aftermarket replacement from the beginning. The TM40 which is almost identical was designed as an aftermarket carb for big singles and for some Harleys to replace the OEM unit.

Interesting. I won't have thought Mikuni would design an aftermarket carb for the tinkering crowd.

This Mikuni TM36 was originally introduced as a stock carb for a limited time on the Husky 410 and does require the replacement of some jets to perform properly in any situation so the requirement of purchasing the base tuner kit from our tuner kit listing is essential unless your particular engine is also listed there. This carb delivers exceptional performance improvements on any 4-stroke single engine 350cc through to 500cc and on any 700 to 900cc twin that they will physically fit to.

Direct cut and paste from a website.

There used to be nearly a whole segment of the carb industry that offered nothing but aftermarket carbs for all kinds of applications...Lectron, EI, and others. That issue of the TM36-68 being OEM on the Husky makes it sound like the carb was developed for the Husky. Mikuni didn't design that carb for the Husky 410. The Dellorto 36mm carb that came on the Husky sucked so badly that Husky sourced them for a bit as a delivered package...thankfully...so it did serve somewhat as an OEM carb in a limited way. The TM pumpers, HS models, HSR models, and maybe one or two others are the same family. Mikuni has always been an interesting company when it came to aftermarket carbs.

And Mikuni has been doing replacements for decades. We switched out to Mikunis on our Bultacos when the Amals wore out. That and going up 2mm. I had a 32mm in place of the 30 Amal on my Sherpa S 175 short tracker.

There were places like Skunk Works and FMF doing 38mm round slide kits for 125s - talk about overkill!

Ahhh, the old Amuls with the worn football shaped slides, I reemember them well. I installed Mikunies on my 65 Triumph after I did a 650 kit on it. The only problem was trying to get them jetted right. Either good top end and no Idle or good Idle and no top end. I finally got them right but ended up with a bag of jets left over
