Default TM33 Carb issues revisted

I got some new jets and just tried out the TM 33 in the KLX again...Not good....i got a 37.5 pilot and a 135 main (they didnt have 137.5), turned the fuel screw out 1.5 turns. Started up fine, but was still smelling something burning...figured id ignore that and mess with the idle as it warms up..then i noticed the first 6 inches or so of the header pipe was cherry red...so i turned it off.........also, as i blip the throttle, the RPMs would stick for a couple seconds and then fall...so it looks like it is running way too lean...I'm guessing with these settings, it shouldnt run lean enough to turn the pipe red....any suggestions or is the carb trash????

Have you taken it apart to make sure the pump is working properly and that the tube isn't blocked? What does Bill recommend for a pilot jet?

Bill recommends a 37.5 pilot.......i know the pump needle works...how would one check to make sure its actually pumping...what tube should i check? also, i thought the pump was only used when you start giving it throttle...shouldnt it run off the pilot circuit when idleing?

Sounds like an air leak to me.
IMO. it couldn't possibly be running that lean with those jet sizes.

Won't be the pump.

Something fundamental is not right.
Jetting will come after that is sorted.

Just check the float is set right.
I had a float issue with my Bill Blue pumper.
Pulled it apart and checked it all and it went well after that.

Nope, the air jet is in there......if the float height was way off, would that not allow it to get enough gas and then not run?

Maybe.
What makes me say check that is I had a small problem with mine.
It wasn't the float height adjustment but something dislodged I think.
I can't remember exactly what but something was not right.
I just pulled the bowl and reassembled the float assembly.
Trying to think............ I loose retaining clip maybe?
yeh thats it, a loose or catching retaining clip.

Worth a look?
