Default RE: Tires

Ok I'm here to revive this thread[sm=wakeup.gif] Lets come to a final decision here. So will the tire 120/80-18 definatley fit our bikes and if so will it cause any trouble? Doesn't sound like an extra 20 mm. is really too big. Also why did Kawasaki go with these stock sizes as they are not as common as other tires out there? Has anyone put a 120 mm. width tire on the rear yet?? Seems like this thread never got proper closure, so if anyone already mounted these tires on there bikes, please let us know so that we're not guessing at this anymore.

Why not the 778's ? The 760s are listed as designed more for dry, rocky terrain, the 778 for everything. We get mud here.....

With less than 200 miles on her, I can't say I speak from experience in the dual sport world, as my previous bike was offroad only...

after putting 2000km on the original tire I decided to try a mitas E09 on the rear.I got a 110/80/18.there is definatly room for at least a 120 with room to spare.
I have some friends that run them on their kl650's an dr 650's and they rave about them all the time.

That's it when I do order new tires I'm getting the 606's, Hey guys a friend of mine with a 2003 KLR 250 bought a 130/100/18 and it rubs on the muffler when he jumps, so I am thinking the 120 or the 100 is the ticket.

Those IRC GP1 Tires are sounding really enticing to me, since I have to ride on the road alot to get to the dirt. The 606's are also on the list, hmmm.... which one to get?? Thanks for the link DJAM, great reviews.

Is there really gonna be a major difference in heavy duty tube vs standard tube for this bike. I always ride mine at manufaturers recommended pressure, I never ride with it under. So will this make a big difference for me?

Also, whats the best link to a website to show how to change a tire?? I mean in home and out riding in the woods? What do we do when we need to change a flat when we're 30 miles deep into a forest? How does the bike sit with the rear wheel off of the bike, and how the hell do we take the rear wheel off and put it back on if its just us by ourself, the only thing to hold the bike up is a kickstand?? Any info on this would be great. Thanks. Oh ya, i decided to get the Dunlop 606's, I have alot of mud here, and these seem like they will work the best on and off, the Kenda 270's and the IRC GP1 sound really good, but the ***** are placed too close together and are easily clogged by mud.

If you want a serious off road tire go with the Kenda trackmaster 2's last week end at the track it was like the difference of night and day. When they just watered the track, in the dust, on the hard pack, in the loam, and threw the sand section the rear tire tracked just like a MX knobby. I will admit they dont ride as good as the 603's on the street but there ok even at high speeds(90mph) they where fine.
