I haven't warped or worn out my front brake rotor and I use the front brake pretty hard on the street. Putting your KLX on a stand and rotate the front wheel. A bad rotor will be easy to spot that way.

Regarding tire wear, the ***** are the wear indicator!

Most people will replace the tire due to lost traction off-road before the tire is generally at its end of life regarding general tire safety. Realize the traction loss though before you hit rain-soaked streets if you are commuting because a worn-out knobby on the street can be super slick (i.e. low traction) and is more prone to punctures.

And congrats on your 2007 model! The 2006 and 2007 have the older KDX/KLX-300 off-road suspension setup! Mine will take the speed bumps at the exit gate at work at ~40MPH/~65KMH with the front forks sprung for my weight!
Didn't know that! When I agreed to the trade, I actually thought I was getting the 2009+ one. I didn't even realize there was a first and second gen to the bike. Either way, was a person of my word and did not reverse my offer.

Rocky Mtn ATV rim lock
So, on my rim I definitely see a nut on there. Does that automatically mean I have one of these rim locks? That would throw it way out of balance I guess!

Thanks all for weighing in thus far.

Yep, I'm 98% sure that nut you see is a rim guard lock 'nut'. Typically, two are used to offset the weight on opposite sides of the wheel.

I forgot about this thread, sorry folks! Anyhow - yes, my brake rotor was def bent. Put a new one on (EBC semi-floating) and new pads. All is well.

Good news! A bent rotor is an easy fix relative to most of the other options.

It depends on what you are doing with it. For real off-road use, the longer travel suspension is a real asset. For street use, commuting, etc. with light off-road use, the 2009+ with its lower seat height has its advantages.

Wait, so I have a 2019 KLX250S. What suspension do I have? I thought for example the shock was the same as the old KDX even on the newer bikes.

The newer KLX-250/300 motorcycles have less suspension travel and ground clearance along with a lower seat height.

If you spring things correctly for your weight, you can improve the suspension quality. Then there is valving and oil viscosity to consider for further improvements.

In my case, I started with springs in the front forks because of the nose dive and weight transfer with front braking.

My front disk is bent, it was bent way bad, I straighten it with a big wrench. It's still not perfect, but it's a dirt bike. If I was going 100mph into a hairpin I would change it.

If you have a KLX250S you can use any KLX brake rotor. It isn't unusual to find used KLX300R rotors on ebay for around $30, I even snagged one for $20, just because I could. My bike's front rotor was marked as for a KX, so even some of them use the same rotor diameter and bolt pattern. The only thing that changes on the 300R and 250R and S models, is the rotors may have slots instead of holes in the rotor or the center may have a different color or cut outs. The bolt patterns will be the same. Kawasaki used the same general hub design on a lot of their off roaders, only changing some machining for speedometers. My 1995 KLX650C brake rotor will bolt on my 2009 KLX250R.

The SF has a larger rotor that can only be used if you have the brake caliper carrier to move the caliper to fit the rotor.

click here here is one on the cheap, same rotor I am running on my 2009 KLX250S, says KX in the title, then 300R in the fit chart, but will work, it is a 270mm rotor with the correct four bolt hole pattern click here Here is a link to Partzilla with all the bikes it fits, but the key is to know about the hub fit and know which fit It will work on virtually every KLX250/300S since 1994. One nice thing about Kawasaki not changing everything every few yeas.

If you want the petal cut rotor here is a 2020-21 front rotor for low buck at $50 click here
