Default Tire replacement...110/70x17 to 120/60x17?

I need to replace the front tire on my 09 250SF and the dealer is trying to convince me to go with a 120/60x17 as a replacement. What do you guys think?

According to the dealer, going to that size will broaden up my tire options and provide better handling without affecting the geometry of the bike.

I really don't want to mess with the OEM setup/recommendation in regards to tires however it may be a wise choice.

Thanks

Give it a try, experiment a little. It'll only be on there for a short time anyway.

You might try to put those two sizes beside each other, the 110/70 calculates to be taller than the 120/60 throwing off the speedo and dropping the front end slightly if you switch to the 120/60.

Height will be about the same width about 1/2" narrower (10mm). Do it if you need to for the tire you want. It might ever so slightly steer slower. It won't provide "better" handling, only different handling. If the tires you get are softer they will stick better IF you need it. Otherwise it's no gain, regardless of what the dealer may claim. You have to have use for it.

I know I can run as hard as I want while chasing a DRz400SM, super motoed XR650R, and Aprilia SXV550 friends ride. I can't motor the 650 or Aprilia, but can hang real close in cornering with my Duro HF903/904 17/21 dual sport tires. Might be different on a track where I wouldn't have to deal with variables pubic roads present. I want a set of roll in 17s just to keep from wearing the dual sport tires so bad and for the look, but I won't sacrifice the 21" front for my dual sport use.
