For tire changing, I use 3 irons and some water or soap if available. I've never used powder on my tubes. In the garage, I just change tires on an old carpet or tire underneath the rim. You can expect a few pinches here and there when you are learning. Don't expect to be done until it holds air.

Need to be able to feel to put things back together, cant do that with gloves.
It's a good thing your not a Maintenace mechanic like I am in a food factory. We have to wear them in the RTE ( Ready To Eat ) area's 100% of the time over a pair of cotton gloves. Yup, it sucks, but what can you do. It makes the job interesting at times when your trying to put in smaller nuts and bolts.

Thats different... you have to for your job because of the food. That still sucks. Im not a fan of gloves at all. I actually dont wear gloves using a chainsaw to cut firewood or while using the 27 ton log splitter to split the wood... its safer for me not to wear gloves. Those thick leather gloves that most wear doing that stuff, you cant feel anything. Unsafe.

Yeah, I did it that way for 50 years. No more. If the gloves are around, I'll wear them.
