Tinkering Day Today
Well, I got the KLX250S up in the air to change the oil and filter. As I was waiting for the oil to drain I started looking at the rear suspension. I decided to take it all apart just to make sure there is some grease in there. Lo and behold, the folks that put this bike together are either saving weight or cost - there was not even a wipe of grease on any of the bolts in the rear suspension. I took it all apart, packed some grease into the roller bearing, the on all the bolts and torqued everything down.
Don'cha know that while I had it all apart, I remembered a new spring that I had sitting around. I got it out and took a look at it. H'mmm, same length, same inside diameter, outside diameter was just a bit bigger as the coils are .060 larger in diameter. Before you know it, the spring was mounted on the KLX and I'm going to go try it in the AM. It feels much different, more linear instead of the way it was.
So now the oil is fresh, the oil filter is clean and the suspension has been played with. More to follow tomorrow.
