I run a 46 on back and a 14 on front in the desert and dirt roads then change to a 13 for the mountains. A tooth on the front is about 3 1/2 on the back.

 

Well I got the new gear on the old bike and love the new black sprocket with the renthal chain... I took this picture right before I went on a nice ride through some muddy trails... The 14t/48t combo works really nice on both street and dirt... mudd tooo!!!

 

nice, it looks great. I am not sure on the chain slack but I would prolly toss a wrap of safety wire over that master link. Good to see you back from the sand box

Could you elaberate on how to put saftey wire on the masterlink? I just cant picture how one would go about it?

The masterlink has the retaining plate just under the clip. I like to put two winds of SS safety wire around the plate and clip twisting the wire lightly, leaving a small end of the safety wire. This can easily be tucked back against the chain. The small diameter wire will not impede on the sprocket O Ring and sprocket clearances. Just to aide my quick pre ride inspections, I put a dab of Blue RTV sealant on the twisted wire to make sure it is still there. (The same stuff as I use for my axle pinch bolts.) I have seen a lot of flying chains off of the starting grid due to missing links.

 

Interesting. I've never thought of doing that, Drag. I have lost a clip before, though. Luckily the chain stayed together even without it until I spotted it missing when I was doing the pre-check before the next ride.
