its been fun but im tired of no power! rode a guys yami 426 the other day at the ohv park and it was awesome! instant wheelies.. couldnt shift fast enough when accelerating. so gonna get a cr250 2 smoker of some sort.. cant wait! hopin to get 3 Grand outta this bike

 

Good luck! I've tried to sell mine a couple times with no bites.. I did the same thing, rode a WR450 and fell in love, then a KTM450EXC and did the same thing.. hahaa.. Maybe one day!

 

I'm glad to see people get and enjoy other bikes. I think riders who got a KLX250 and were disappointed after riding big competition bikes probably got the wrong bike in the first place. The KLX is a dual sport bike. It has very good suspension and weight compared to most DS bikes, but it is a DS bike. Most states have challenging steps to plating race bikes or prohibit it all together. Race bikes also don't usually make very good candidates for use on pavement to any great degree. The KLX and DS bikes like it are more durable and less service intensive as a general rule. The best bet is to have two bikes when you can do so...one DS and one race bike...but when you can't or don't want to buy and maintain two bikes, the DS bike becomes a logical choice...at least if any pavement is required. Sometimes you don't know what kind of bike you need or want until you try one or two...happens all the time.

 

My buddy and I just put his 02 YZ250F through CT inspections, he has a road plate on that thing now!!! And another buddy got an 05 Honda CRF450X through.. If I knew how easy that was I would have went down that route in the first place.. There's riding trails, jumps, tracks within three miles from my driveway, those are the perfect bikes around here for street plate.. Oh well, live and learn

CL- I'd buy a CRF450X in a second if I thought I could get it plated. I thought the title classification prevented such a thing. But I guess they don't make Baja kits for nothin'.

if cali wasnt such smog *****, i would have gotten a klx450. im still happy with the 250 though, probably wont ever trade it.

 

ya i agree it it is one of the better dual sports and i wish i could afford a 350 kit but it makes mores sense just to sell it and get a nice race bike or somethin.

 

I know how you're feeling. The two guys I ride with both have big bore bikes, and they're fun. I get the "more power" jones real bad after swapping bikes with them, but I love my KLX more now than ever. It's just so easy and relaxing to ride, cruising around the local trails and backroads, plus I can commute to work on it when the mood strikes. I like to think I'll never sell it, but we'll see how that goes. I'm craving something like a used (less than 10 year old) 250 two-stroke motocross bike that would get a paddle and be strictly a dunes bike.

 

I'll probably never sell mine either. It is worth more to me based on my feelings for it and what I have tied up in it that I could never get close to a good price. I paid $5200 (w/ tax and license) and put probably a $1000 of dual sport or KLX specific accessories on it. I can't let it go for the blue book price of $3500. I will say that I doubt I will ever buy a new bike again. Used is the way to go, let someone else eat the depreciation.

Tyler, you might think about putting the bike back to stock condition and selling your after market accessories here or ebay to recover some of your investment. A person buying this bike usually will not appreciate what those items are worth.
