I could not agree more with iowaguy. Im 21 and still thing a 600 is WAYYYY to much for me. Thats why im looking to start with the KLX or the ninja 250. The new 250 just looks soooo nice. And when I twist the throttle I dont want to look down and see I am doing 90mph in second gear (i rode a friends 2007 CBR600rr before he totaled it (long story)). But im sure you have gotten this lecture more than once so i will leave it at that.
Good luck with the sale!

RE: throwing in the towl
Well I can't believe I'm going to say this but Iowa guy is pretty spot on with this one.
I started riding at the age of 5 and got into some pretty fast bikes racing motocross then onto roadracing and in this time I've come to the understanding I'm still not as good as I think I am.
Riding a 250 may not be as cool as a 600 or a big bore sport bike but the skills you hone on that bike as well as learning on a dirtbike are life long lessons you will take on to bigger bikes in years to come.
I guess I sound like a old man now (37) but I can slide both the front and rear tire exiting a corner both sides and still can turn some good lap times even though I had a stroke. But I would never had learned any skills if I would have jumped into to big of a bike to fast. Now don't get me wrong I rode bikes that were way to fast and got hurt (238 hp fzr 1000 almost lost a kidney, foot surgery, hand surgery) this was road racing not street riding so remeber your young and will have lots of time for faster bikes learn the skills now for a long life of riding.
Good luck,
Kevin

Some good reads posted on this topic. Street or track has its learning curve even if you have spent time on a more nimble machine like the klx250. You will always learn something everytime while riding. I am digging that new ninja 250.
kgwld1: 238 hp fzr 1000? that is some serious ponies for 2 wheels on the track.

Back in the early to mid 90's I raced this bike in formula extreme class in WERA I also raced in the two stroke 250 class against the Hayden bros. The were super fast and could hardly even fit the bikes.

All you guys keep saying the ninja 250 but would any of you ride one if you could afford something bigger?I'm not saying buy a hayabusa but at least a ninja 500 so you can stay with traffic and not get laughed at for riding a so called girls bike.No offense to any women that read this and ride but even they go bigger quickly as the tame 250 gets old fast.JMOAnd thats why I wouldn't take a sportster 883 either, way too many chick bike comments and most women have the 1200 anyways.
