Default Throttle return problems

Sorry to post of topic of cams and jhoffy but I am kind of stuck.

Just put on a full exhaust and got the jetting right. Wow, what a difference. Anyway in the process of pulling carby and reconnecting the push/ pull cables the throttle no longer pulls back to idle. Everything seems good on the carby butterfly and I didn't touch the throttle tube so I am kind of stuck.

I pulled the throttle end of things apart and lubricated and reassembled. Checked the butterfly and spring. Made sure the grips had clear movement. Can see the adjuster for the cable that opens the carby but there seems to be no adjustment for the cable that pulls and returns to an idle position?

Am I missing the obvious. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi mate. The cables are very tight under the stock tank and have to be 'just so.' Have a look there and see if the problem goes away when the tank is removed. I had the same issue the first time I had the carb' off. I referred to the digital photo I took before disassembly and then put the cables back exactly the same. Success. They are tight between the frame and the tank, but if located correctly there will be no binding and the throttle will return without issue, even on full lock, left and right.

Cheers Westoz. I am up in Perth and have a mate bringing my bike up to Donnybrook Sunday for the Capel 200 trailride. No chance you going?? Great riding at the moment with this weather hey, just did a two day last weekend with club on orange bikes and had the time of my life.

Seems to me excess slack in the pull cable is not returning to idle and has no ability to adjust, but will check with your advice.

This image may help.

As for Capel, not a chance. My 'leave passes' for the next 3/12 are already filled (10 month old baby!)
I'll be heading into the sand again on The Holland Track, via Cave Hill and out to Norseman. May get down to Mornington for the Des Noble weekender too.

You champ, yep I had the cables across next to the loom which may mean that the pull cable had too much on it.

Holland track late August for me. Can't wait. I have a 300cc kit waiting to go in before then, I think I read you had the same?
