while I do think weight is an obvious issue on anything that exists in this world, it's not the only reason I can get into 3rd gear. I just installed a 45-tooth rear sprocket to compliment my 13-toother up front. this combo, combined with the BG, carb mods, and of course my expertise of riding motorcycles is probably why I can do what I do.

But seriously though, once you do shift from 1st to 2nd and get it up and ride it a bit, all you have to do is knock the shift lever up one without using the clutch and whamo, you're into 3rd and it's very controllable. when shifting to 3rd, let off the throttle a little since you're power shifting. good luck on getting the BigGun. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Also, just to let everyone know- I examined my system lastnight and it appears that where the can starts and where the midpipe joins it, which is where these faulty pipes were coming apart, BigGun now puts a reinforcing ring of some metal on top of the canister before the rivets go into it to join the can with the midpipe.

 

did you pay for a quiet core? i thought you were just shorted the vortex insert? the quiet core is $50 or so, maybe you know that, i dunno. do you really think the quiet core is gonna solve whatever problem you're having without it? it's not going to knock db's down enough to make an average person who has no knowledge of motorcycles or exhaust systems notice. it's still going to be obnoxious to them unless you put the oem pipe back on. putting the quiet core in, to me, is like driving a turbocharged car around or a supercharged car and not using either the turbo or the supercharger. what's the point? just my opinions though.

ps. the vortex insert is supposed to come with the pipe, although I didn't get one but I could care, because I DID get the race core and that's all I want.
