Default Thought you all would enjoy this conversation...

I took my bike to work today for the first time. It's an all office environment. There are several guys that drive Harley's to work (which I do like) and I parked in the area of their bikes...here's the conversation around lunch time:

Harley Guy: Why don't you buy a real bike?
Me: Why don't you?
Harley Guy: That think is a pu$$y bike!
Me: I'll tell you what, let's race for pink slips...(he interject's with a hell yea).....I continued, "you pick the first 10 miles of the race, I'll pick the second 10 miles of the race."
Harley Guy: a few expletives that start with F**** Y***. Well, you can't pick up chick's with that little bike!
Me: I don't need a bike to pick up chicks.....
Harley Guy: silence........................................... ................he went lunch, as did I.

That is funny. I had almost the same conversation Monday. It did not include the "picking up chicks" portion ( I will definately remember that one though!) but I told the guy that if he could keep up with me, he could have my bike. He was all for it until I said I get to pick the route. i do not think we would even have to go off road to leave a Harley behind though. As long as you ride a nice tight, curvy road with no straights to make power a factor, you can take a Harley.
Have any of you ever ridden at Deal's Gap? I know I could lose a Harley on the Dragon with my KLX. 318 curves in 11 miles. The link is below for the un-initiated.

Suprisingly, I haven't had that conversation...yet! Been asked why (I usually answer with "Because going in a straight line bores the hell out of me")

Either way, excellent comeback dude.

That was nice..way to put him down. I had a similar encounter yesterday at work. The best part(or worst, depending on how you look at it)is that this moron just missed 4 months of work for putting his precious bike down in the rain. Here's how it went. This is the first time in over 4 months that I had seen this co-worker. He rides a VTX1800.

Him(first words out of his mouth):Why didn't you buy a real F*****G bike?
Me: This is a real bike, Jeff.
Him: NO, NO, NO(as he's snickering).. THIS is a real bike(as he's starting his bike up)
Me: I can take my bike anywhere that you take yours. Can you say the same? Let's go for a ride and we'll see how long you can follow me. When you take your bike where I take mine, then IT will be a real bike.

Needles to say, this guy is just a D**K. He quickly changed the subject, but continued to diss me about my bike..It's only a 250. Can't you handle a 650..blah, blah, blah... These guys obviously suffer from self esteem issues and compensate by putting other's down, and boasting about themselve's. [sm=icon_beat.gif]

I haven't gotten a negative comment yet. Mostly "hey, that's a .. (neat, cool, different, interesting... etc) ... bike". If they ask more questions, I just mention that it does 90mph, can ride on MX tracks, gets 60mpg... oh, and I also have a BMW R1150 in the garage for longer rides and I got bored with going 180mph on the ZX9R I used to have.

A lot of people have trouble understading that sometimes "less is more". A bigger motor means a bigger heavier machine.
