Thor Ride vs. Moose Monarch Pass

Thor Ride vs. Moose Monarch Pass
Does anyone use either of these (pants, jacket, gloves) for winter riding and if so what comments do you have about the two. There is a big price difference in negotiating with sellers between the two as I understandthey are both owned and made by the same company. I was told that the Moose was made with E-Vent Fabric which makes it more expensive?

I ride all year with the Ride Gear. My pants did let some water through when i sat in traffic for 1/2 hour in a pouring rain. They vent well when you need it and also protect from the cold. Make sure you get the newer pants with the zippered vents.

The Thor Ride I was told was waterproof but also assumed it was for extreme conditions such as winter riding in temps below freezing. I guess this calls for buying a larger size and using fleece or whatever the conditions call for as insulation?

I just purchased (should be here friday) the Ride pants, jacket, and gloves. They came highly recomended by the local dealer. They seem like just plain tough fall-winter-spring gear and when it get's really cold I plan to layer with under armour or some equivalent. They supposedly run on the small side, I am a 33 waist and I ordered a 36 so I can wear them over my jeans when commuting. If I ride in really cold weather I plan on wearing my fleece wading pants, I have them in 100 and 400 weight.

I'll save you the price shopping.....I bought all my Ride stuff at sandhillpowersports.com. They have awesome prices on the 07 pants(no change for 08) and the 08 jacket and free shipping.

Sorry, yes...like snowboarding, hunting, and fly-fishing...always dress in layers....an insulated pant would be super heavy and would not breathe/wick away sweat...which leads to overheating, dehydration, fatigue and a shorter ride[:-]...definatley invest in good undergarments (again, cabelas or rei.com).

My buddy swears by the moose pants......pretty $$$$. He is very experienced 30+ years riding.
I just got a new set of Shift Recon pants coming in the mail.
Another one of my buddies uses them.
I'll give a review once they get here if ya want.
I also got a new camel back and an under garment protector on the way.
Getting ready for some up comming enduro and dualsport runs here in NJ.

P.S. He recommends to get the outer pants as they keep your socks and boots dry.
