Thinking of pulling the trigger........

Only comes with a 1 yr manufacturer warranty. I bought a used '06 for $2,900. It has a few scratches on it, but at least I'm not worried about taking it on the trails now And let me tell you, the break-in process on these bikes is really a pain! So glad someone did that for me!

I disagree that the 09 is more of a street bike with off road capability. The 09 can have the full amount of suspension travel easily restored and the closer 6th gear is probably better suited to off road work, although you probably will never use 6th off road any way. I ride mine off road with the stock suspension and it works just fine on tight technical trails ( I do plan on restoring the full travel with stiffer springs however). However if you can find a clean well taken care of used bike I think you'll get more bang for your buck. Also no one as of yet makes a larger capacity gas tank for the 09. I don't know if that will be a problem for you or not. It is for me. But I really like my 09 and IMHO the bike is better, or at least more modern, looking. Chicks dig it LOL. Either way you can't lose they're both very fun and versatile motorcycles.

I'd go for the used '06, if it's still available, and keep the bucks in your pocket for the up grades that you'll definitely want to do if you are a tinkerer. There are a lot of very happy '06 owners on this site, as you'll soon find out. Personally, I very much prefer the "retro" look of the '06 & '07's. With regard to the warranty ..... ya won't need no stinkin warranty!, these bikes are virtually indestructible. Save the money! Get the '06... just my opinion.... and welcome to the friendliest and most helpful forum out there! (bet your brothers' Yammie buddies won't help him nearly as much, HA!)

If your at all capable of doing some wrenching you'd be better off doing all the work yourself. There are horror stories in here from what some dealers have done under warranty. You might, in the long run, save a few bucks but the aggrivation that you'll have to endure will be maddening.
