I currently have the FMF Power Bomb header on my bike and now FMF has come out with the Mega bomb...Yay for progression I guess. The expansion chamber is larger and on a stock setup they claim 3 hp! I was thinking about replacing the Power Bomb but was wondering if anyone else has had a chance to stick the Mega on yet or am I going to be the test vehicle?

 

I would save the money and get a big bore

How much is it? If it's more than $50 I don't think it'd be worth it. I seriously doubt 3hp on a KLX. Maybe on a bike that's making 80hp to begin with - but 3hp on a KLX is like a quarter of it's total HP... hahaa

 

The big bore is a given I and will order it next week if time permits. Just wondering if anyone has tried this header.

 

I put the Mega on a week ago and did notice a nice improvement in the low end. It's not mind blowing but it does spool up better. It a little more like a billy goat now (which is a good thing). It climbs the gnarly singletrack better then it did the week before. I'm almost wishing I did the BB first but I'm thinking I'll like the Mega once I get the BB kit so no worries. I never rode the Power Bomb though so I don't know about the difference. FMF states that the Mega is lo-mid and Power is mid-hi so I enjoyed the Mega. Hope this helps.

correct me if i'm wrong but i believe a 3 hp gain on a 20 hp bike is a significant gain. compared to a bike already makin 80, you wouldnt notice the extra power. but these little slugs would love the extra power

 

Don't forget, if he already has the powerbomb and he replaces it with the mega, he can sell the p-bomb on to someone here (or ebay) and recoup some bucks $$$$

sooner or later they are going to be as big as a 2 stroke pipe lol

 

Got the big bore and pumper but want to get it tuned perfect before I make the pipe swap.
