Default Thinking about buying a KLX400.. need a sounding board please

Yes, I have my eye on a 2003 KLX400. It is plated for Cali with current tags below I pasted the specs

The purpose for this bike is to play with a 400cc bike at a reasonable price. I would also be able to invite a friend to ride with me and we could take turns on the 250 and 400 and play around.

2003 KLX400
400cc liquid cooled engine
Bike has been re-jetted
Radiator Guards
After market WhiteBros Pipe
Showa Reverse Forks
After Market handle Bar/Grips
After Market Front Headlight UFO(I get so many compliments on this light its ridiculous!)
Carbon Fiber Frame Guards by LightSpeed
After Market shifter like the ones on MottoX bikes
Engine guard as well
Black Powder Coated Rims
Larger Spokes
After Market Tires
I have a brand New front Tire for this bike.
Supermotto Front Fender, I have original fender as well.
After market lights.
Oil and oil filter just changed
Bike has 4,600 miles on it ..

$2900 is about half the new price.
So, the question I have is does this look like a good deal?
Is 2003 too old? Is there some bads news about these bikes I dont know.
Is it going to be a project becuase it is old?
, I just want to ride it not re-build it.

Anyway, I was seriously considring the bike and now I am on the fence.

any and all comments and suggestions are welcome please...

It's a drz 400 with green plastic.

You want a drz? It's a reliable bike with lots of mods avaliable....price seem a wee high to me, but I am not shopping a drz.

You ever drive one in tight stuff? It feels heavier than it is.

Bullet proof motor.

It'll make your klx seem like a slug.

Good bike.
Ride one often. DRZ that is.
Too tall and top heavy for me but they go very well.

For that money I suspect you could get a newer DRZ.

He means that literally. Kawi and Suzuki sold the same bike with different colors on it for one year.

With a few mods the bike has plenty of potential. Yellow or green they're both the same.
