ok you dont see how to grease them, but you have greased them? u confused me.....is it just me? do you grease the axle, maybe?
I put grease on the axle and on the outside of the bearing and such.Mine had a little grease on the outside of the bearing when Itook them apart the first time, with sugar sand caked up on the outside. The grease may cause sand to stick more, but grease is good. the manual says to slather grease on the speedo thing which flush mounts on the bearing, I don't remember if it specifically says to grease the axle but theyhadgrease on them when I tookthemapart so they got some when I put it together. You don't want that sucker to seize up in there.

They do look like giant sealedskateboard bearings, when I was a kid my skate used to getsome high tech lube but I was serious about skating and used to ride a half-pipe.

Good point FingerMullet, a spot of grease on the axle will surely help slide it in and out for repairs. I'm guessing thats why it was on there.

Yeah, half pipes, pools, skate parks it was all fun!!!!
Surfing seems to be a whole lot easier on me today thoughsince if I fall, water is a whole lot softer to land in then concrete used to be

Holy thread revival....
I have not used my KLX in a while. Hopped onto the saddle today and, damn.. the rear linkages seem seized up. So now I going to have to tear into the Tie Rod and Rocker arm linkages and get some grease in there. I assume the needle bearings and sleeves are going to be dry. Any advise from forum members that have been in there? Is the thing going to fall apart on me when I pull the Tie Rod bolts? What are the chances that I can get away with re greasing and re assembly without ordering a full rebuild kit??

No, your assumption is incorrect. The bike comes in mostly built and there is nothing in the set up instructions, nor is there any time allowance to pay for, tearing down to lube bearings. Unless you want to pay another $600 for a bike it won't happen with any make. It comes out of the crate, any assembly done, checked out in general per set up manual and anything the dealer may do, and out it goes. Sorry to disappoint.

We had a couple local MXers who would buy the bike with a deal where they could pull it down right out of the crate to repack and check everything. One actually pulled suspension and sent it out, sitting the chassis on a stand off to the side. But those were riders the shop helped out, not the norm by any stretch.

If they are just a bit dry and the grease (such as it is) is congealed without any sign of water/rust I'd just stuff in lots of good grease (clean up any excess after assembly) and see how it goes.
