Default is there a heat shield under the rear plastic?

is there? under the rear plastic on the exhaust side? my bike was in storage for a few months. today i was going over it and put on some new bars and grips. took it for a quick spin and came back and decided to pull the air filter out and clean it. the rear plastic seemed real hot. for some reason im thinking there used to be a silver heat shield under there but mine as nothing right now.

strange that it would just be gone. nice and clean to no residue or anything left.
that and when i first got it the square nuts for the battery were missing............
maybe instead of storage my bike went on loan to someone ????

well guess i'll stop by and auto parts place in the morning. not gonna spend the $30 + for oem at bike bandit

There may some terminology confusion here.
Mine has the insulation on the inside of the right side cover but nothing under the rear fender.

Yea mine has the reflective tape like the kind used on duct work systems. I don't think its really all that heat resistant. Besides if you ride fast enough the heat will not be a factor.
