Default Thanks...and moving on to new ride

I just wanted to take a moment to thank all the good folks on this site for all of the positive dialogue, and help you give klx riders. I haven't said much over the last few years, but I went to this site on a daily basis while I researched my klx, and then pretty well every day while I had my bike for over two years. Every time I had a question, I got great responses.

The off-road riding spots in my area just aren't around anymore, and without trailering your bike, or riding long distances, you are out of luck...it's been frustrating. I sold my klx, and just bought a BMW F650GS and look forward to a bit more adventure riding. My wife would not allow me to have two bikes...she just doesn't understand.

In any case...I love the BMW...it's such a comfortable bike on the road, and it has plenty of power for my 'almost 50' vintage.

cheers, and ride safe

Cool new bike! Good luck on your new adventures out there. I sometimes think about getting another street bike or maybe a larger dualsport for longer street rides, but I figure the KLX has depreciated enough that I might as well keep it around because it's just so cheap to run and maintain as well as being fun and handy to have around as a commuter and trail bike. On the other hand, I've also been craving a more hardcore dirt bike, so I'm attracted to bikes like the KTM EXC. Ohh what ever am I gonna do?!

TNC, that's exactly what I was getting at, the need to be done with #1 ($$$$$$$$$$$)to be able to move on to #2. Mind you, there are some who "just" add to the wives.

You know, I was thinking a little of doing the same. I was doing a little hiking through the woods this weekend and my ankle started to bite me a little and there's bruising on the side opposite from where my plate and 6 screws were put in 2 years ago. I got a tri-something fracture when I got off my old WR400 the wrong way. Basically, the ankle had no support. Both lower leg bones were broken and something else in front was broken too.

Then where the big toe on my other foot is attached to the foot is also giving me problems. A year ago last May, while riding the KLX, I clipped a black locust stump hiding in the weeds and smashed the front of my foot between it and the foot peg. There's a floating chunk of bone just hanging out in there now and I need to wear shoes that keep that part of my foot somewhat compressed if I'm going to be on my feet any length of time.

If I turn my head to the right while inhaling, I can feel a pain in my ribs from my graceful crash at the Wabeno ride a few weeks ago. The problem is the only cure for getting old is death and that doesn't sound like any fun. So what are we supposed to do?

I'm glad I'm not the only one.
