Default Switching to synthetic?

I'm getting ready to do my first oil change, still need a torque wrench, filter and oil...hehe...But I was wondering what I needed to do besides drain all the previous oil if I wanted to switch to synthetic. Do I need to flush everything completely out somehow?

I'll probably take some hits for this but make sure you're engine has been "broken-in" before switching to synthetic oil. What's "broken-in"? Some will say several hundred miles, some say 1500 miles, I waited until it had 800 miles before the switch.

Let the dino/syn oil controversy begin!!!

I got it at 1000 miles and it just had it's first service. Amazingly the manual says 7500 miles before next ANYTHING...All I know is that little oil window is loooow....

Default +1

+1 wait until motor is broken in before the switch. I also wouldn't run full synthetic if an engine already had a lot of miles. Start it at the right time and then stay with it, IMHO

It's been 100 degrees almost every day here, is the 10w-40 motul 5100 OK? Shouldn't get any higher than that, except for a freak heatwave.

get a small tube of grease. youll need a small dab on the end of the spring to hold it in place when you put the new filter in.
