I adjusted the rebound and compression dampening. when i went over that bump in the intersection, the inspection sticker that hangs below the licence touched the tire. That was the sound I was hearing

My 2012 makes more weird sounds than any bike I've owned (lots, I'm 61). It sorta sounds like a large brawl and everyone's armed w/ tupperware, I got a roll of duct tape and started tying down all the floppy bits. Wow! Every damned piece of this bike was just banging away. The front of the seat against the tank. The flap between the rear tire and the shock. The radiator shrouds, the radiator mud guards. The rear fender, the fork guards, etc. Get a roll of tape and try one piece at a time. It's cheap and sort of fun in geeky way. Also, when you reduce the stupid noise you'll be able to hear the important sounds.
