Default Suspension adjustments for KLR250

I know, I'm posting in the wrong forum, BUT, there's no action at the KLR250 forum and my belief is that most of you KLX250 owners graduated from KLR250s and have the most experience and knowledge.

If I'm right please help me, if I'm wrong, go ahead and flame me.

What suspension adjustments have you tried and with what results? Any that were best for street, best for off-road? I know that rider weight is a critical variable so please include with your info. Thanks.

Default RE: Suspension adjustments for KLR250

No Flaming here, feel free to post about the KLR. Some of the guys here have owned or still own that great bike. As far as suspension, for me being a heavy rider (240lbs) I just maxed out the adjustments on the bike, and since I don't plan on jumping the bike anyway, it seems perfect for me, although I have been told that I need to put bigger springs in the front and bump the oil viscosity up a little so it won't dive as bad, and I might do that eventually. Hopefully someone here can answer your questions, because I am pretty new to the whole bike thing myself, having been out of Dual Sport riding for 20+ years. It's amazing what you learn on these forums. I can think of all the bikes I grew up with and I don't even remember oiling the chain or that the suspension had adjustments. Changing oil? I don't think I ever changed oil in a machine I had as a youngster. Now all these years later, being in the maintenance field, its the first thing I think about every time I get on the bike. Of course there is a huge difference between having something go wrong with a stationary machine and one that's moving 60 mph down the road, you tend to pay a little more attention to the bike's maintenance since your life can depend on it.
