Can you add/remove disks on that model? Also, is that theClark tank? If so, how is it holding-up leak-wise. I'm very close to pulling the trigger onone...samecolor.

Thanks! Supertrapps all seem to have the same tone (even the automotive ones). I like the sound, but some don't. It was cheaper than the other exhausts available at the time, and it was different than all the rest, so I went with it.

Yes, you can add or remove discs one-at-a-time if you like. There are 2 versions of that muffler - a race core and a quiet core. The race core is a straight-thru design with the discs on the end. The quiet core has an internal baffle before the exhaust gets to the discs. The baffle just makes the exhaust gasses taketwoturns before exiting. On the race core, you can add as many discs as you like, and the back pressure will keep going down and the noise up. On the quiet core, 12 discs are the limit. You can add more if you like, but then the internal baffle becomes the restriction. According to Supertrapp, with the quiet core, 4 discs provide the sameflow as the stock KLX300 muffler.

My Clarke tank has been problem-free. No leaks and no regrets.

Nice work on keeping the noise level reasonable. I'm considering replacing my Muzzymuffler section with something a little quieter. Do you have any friends with a Muzzy that you can compare the pipe with? I'm wondering if the Supertrap will slip onto the end of the Muzzy header? Same question for anyone with a FMF Q4.

I don't know anyone with a Muzzy, but I had a Big Gun on a different bike, and it was about twice as loud as the Supertrapp. I didn't have the Vortex insert for the Big Gun though. The closest thing I've heard that compares to the soundlevel of my exhaust is an XR400 stock exhaust with the spark arrestor removed.

Supertrapp also sells universal-fit IDS2 mufflers in both race and quiet cores. They don't come with a mid-pipe, and instead of a welded-on mount, they come with the same strap that FMF mufflers use. Measure the O.D. of your mid-pipe, then get the Supertrapp muffler with the same inletI.D. My muffler has a 1 1/2" I.D. inlet and is 16" long. If you can make your own mid-pipe (or have it made), you could even go this route to replace the stock muffler.
