Super Moto Wheels
OK, I am ready for a set of Super Moto wheels and need some input form some of you guys that have done it. I found some nice ones at East Coast wheels (thanks Scott ). I like the black hoops and I am thinking about the red hubs. Give me some tire sizes and some pictures I have seen several on this site that look great.

Some knockoff's would be kind of cool too.
I ran some on a few of my street bikes.( 30 years ago.)

RE: Super Moto Wheels
So, what do these knock offs do? Are they like quick change hubs?
Do you need to lower the rear of the bike to make up for the tire changes? Now that the rims will be the same size I wonder ifthe ride heightwould make as big of a difference as it does on a sport bike? Does it really matter?
What set up does the D Tracker have? Gearing, Tire size, rim size?
One more. Please give me the Pros and Cons of lacing up your own spokes/wheels for those that have done it. It looks fun plus I can have a good excuse to drink some beer and work on my bike a little more.

They make for some quick gear changes for one thing. They just look right too.
The D-tracker has a 38 tooth sprocket. (I believe) I run a 41 and is pretty good
for what I want. I almost tempted to order a 40 foe a few less revs on the freeway.
It pretty dang close to perfect as it is.

I know some of you guys have pictures of your KLX/SM's and you have already posted on other threads but I want to see them all so I can compare and find the right set up for me. Let me know what you think of the way your bike handles and what size and brand of tires you have. Come on and post um![&:]

Lacing your own spokes can be quite an experiance, but you can do it. You will definatly get the time in the garage you are looking for. The only thing that takes alot of time is truing up the wheel as you tighten all the spokes, just remeber after you snug all the spokes, give each spoke equal turns even if one feels tighter than another. Over tightening causes rim warpage as does under tightening.
OK pros: garage time, experience, pride of a job well done
cons: can be tiedious, you have to wait befor your sweet new wheels are ready to mout, broken spokes (but just don't get to quick and cross thread the spoke nipples and this wont be a problem, speaking from expierience)

Thanks Mav! Those black rims look great on your bike. I also want to be able to switch back and forth. I like to spend weekends in the mountains (Deals Gap) and have fun on all the roads up there. I love the tight twisty roads and would love swap between my sport bike and the KLX. I only live two hours form the Dragon and I like to trailer up so I can have all my gear. So, bringing an extra bike will be easy and fun.
I got this bike to ride with my wife and daughter so I will still keep my stock rims and tires on most of the time.
I will be upgrading the front break and break lines for some fast (for thetight roads)riding and stopping. It won't hurt in the dirt either.
