Sunstar 13t owners

RE: Sunstar 13t owners
In fact I don't even know what I received as front sprocket part number. I called my dealer to order the jetting parts and by the way asked him for a front sprocket (I did'nt give him either a part number or company name to check with). He told me he had one, so I asked him wich company and then I knew it was a sunstar. I don't have the part number yet but if that sprocket needs a spacer I'll cancel it and order one for a honda xr650L. I guess I can find a part number somewhere on the forum?

Since I just got a sunstat sproket & have never seen the stock one, can some one post a pic of the stock one so we can see what to look for?
I think mine has a spacer on one side of it.

RE: Sunstar 13t owners
okay, here's my old sprocket, it only had about 1400km on it when i changed it. You can see the shoulder in the first pic and in the second you can see the distortion of the OEM rubber bushing (which does not come on the aftermarket sprockets, except maybe the XR650L). The sprocket was crammed with dirt in behind it and i believe that contributed to the rubber distorting and it may have even been rubbing against the crank cover...soI personallythink swapping the front sprocket was beneficial in more ways than one, noise or no noise.
actually, you can see the shoulder much better in the second pic[:-]

I did have to get a machine shop to mill a spacer for me. I think I traded them a dozen donuts However I still don't like the fact that there are two parts in there. So does the Honda 650 13 tooth have a shoulder built in? If so I will probably be changing it eventually.

I think Deej had to get a spacer made to have it fit properly. It didn't have a shoulder built into the sprocket. If you order a 13 tooth for a honda xr650L it will fit perfectly with no spacer needed.

Anyway no wearing noticed on chanin or sprocket.

I used a Moose sprocket, but the results are the same. I haven't noticed any louder noise and I have the stock exhaust. I mean, come on, how much noise could a sprocket make? Maybe if I rode without a helmet I might notice a difference. If there is any extra wear on the chain, it would be miniscule, I don't see how that could be a big deal either.
See my recent thread on more top speed with this sprocket as well. The 13t should be stock with the bike for sure.

The Moose sprocket was a direct bolt-on. For easiest install, use a pneumatic impact wrench. No kidding there.

I paid $15 for it from my locally owned shop. The part # is 1212-0073 for the 13T. Moose also has a 12T available, part # M606-26-12.
