Default Strange Steering Sensation

All of a sudden there's an issue with the bike's steering. Nothing out of the ordinary on the last ride in the trails, no falling, no hitting a tree, etc just a little jumping and rough rocky riding. Now when I'm going straight and slowing down to turn left or right there's a little stiffness wanting me to stay straight. I first thought this was just the new Kenda TrkMstrs hooking up on the pavement, but it happens in the dirt. I retraced my last front-end adjustments; loosen and re-tightened the front axle, checked the tire pressure and even loosened and re-tightened the forks in the triple-tree. Still happens. I even put the front wheel between my legs and pulled hard on the bars left and right. Still happens. Any ideas on what is causing this?

Sounds like your steering bearings need grease and they probably have a flat spot on them. Read my report about this a year or 2 ago. Mine was sort of a weird weave thing. I pulled the whole steering apart and cleaned and greased it. By the way there wasn't enough grease in there to........well I got no analogy but trust me it was nearly non existent. Here is the thread......you have to skip down to the pics, but its all there.

Check all the cables... maybe ones really tight and restricting the movement, may need more slack in them.

Hey Deej, I was worried about taking the bike apart to get to the carb and now you are telling me I need to take the bike apart for this. Well, I guess sooner or later I was going to have to learn by doing. I hope I have to tools and remember how to put it all back together.

BTW, the link in your thread to instructions doesn't work anymore. Do you know where I can get some instructions?

That link in my post works, are you sure you are talking about the same thing? I just have some pictures and a description in there. Is the link not working at all?

You wrote this as one of your posts...
"Here's a link I found showing how to grease the steering head.
http://www.klxzone.co.uk/images/tips...%20Guide_4.doc

It's for a klx300 but I would guess it would be similar."

That's the link that's not working for me.

I have LubriMatic Marine Corrosion Control and Trailer Wheel Bearing Grease that I used to re-pack my boat's trailer wheel bearings. Is this ok to use on the steering bearings?

Is this what you are referring to? That is not my link, that was from someone else.
