everybody and their mother told me that the klx250sf would only be good for learning...it was under powered...that it wouldn't be able to handle high speed highways...i would outgrow it quickly....think they were all wrong...

this little bike has brought me a lot of joy...cars only get used for groceries and bad weather days now...little over 6 months and nearing 7,000 miles...the klx spends most of the miles on the freeway and highway at 75 mph to 85 mph...done few group rides through some extreme mountain twisties and it keeps up or does better than lot of the big cc bikes...took it on a 1,000 mile highway journey from san francisco to san diego and back...keeping full throttle all the way...had to downshift for going up the mountains to maintain 75 mph flow of traffic......feels like i know every inch of the klx250sf now...throttle and braking...it's lot of fun to throw around on the streets...in san francisco, it can go anywhere, literally...it's not fast, but it's hella fun...even on dirt with street tires....lot of sliding around fun...

i was little worried about 8 hours straight of full throttle...when i was passing harris ranch and the million cows...i did hit 100 mph trying to get away from the cow dung stench...hahaha....but, mostly 75 mph to 85 mph the entire way..70 mph speed limit...probably about 1 hour full throttle on 5th going up the grapvine area....only stopped briefly and frequently for gas (think i stopped almost every 50 +/- miles because i was paranoid about gas)...repeat everything again on the return....

I can see where the klx would have been a nice cruise. I hear ya concerning the sport bike position and afterwards discomfort. I pulled a 3 day 2200 mile run on my 10r to Seattle and back. 12hr straight shot to, then the Oyster Run, then the ride back. I hurt for a week.
