Default Stock vs. Mods.

Hey guys,
I would like to thank all of you for posting your experiances with this bike. With the aquired knowledge from many posts, I was able to do the following in an afternoon; with parts in hand.
1. Dual snorkels. Kdx200 in stock hole and modified stock snorkel mounted directly in front
2. Smog stuff gone. Holes plugged.
3. UNI filter. I oiled the inner element only. OK?
4. 13 tooth countershaft sprocket.
4. Fuel mixture screw at 2 turns out.
5. Stock main (118) & pilot (35) jets.
6. Drilled slide vent to 7/64.
7. N1TC needle with collar. Clip set at 2nd slot down.
8. Drilled the crankcase vent opening into the air box to 3/8".
9. And a very nice fitting, and sounding, full system exhaust. (Quiet tip and spark arrestor included and installed).
Well; of course I took the kaw out after reassembly. WOW!!!
I am at 7500 ft. and usually go up from there on our rides. For now this combo works. I'll be tweeking for more low end.
Thanks again for everyones research and input.

mmatz, I have been toying with a few different ideas on how to use my stock snorkel. For not I just have the KDX200 snork in the stock hole. Did you do the same thing with yours stocker as Brian (Nobrakes) did with his (as shown here? If not, could you post a pic?

Thanks,
Chris

Seems like you might be running very lean with that setup -- stock mainjet (118) is lean to begin with, and you've opened it up quite a bit. Maybe your altitude balances things, but it doesn't seem right. You might want to pull your plug and check the coloring just to be sure.

Hi Chris,
Yes, it was Brians pic that inspired this install. The only difference is I left the snorkel on top a little longer and cut it at a 45 degree angle. It comes almost to the front of the air box. The interior portion is cut off flush as there is only about 1" between it and the filter. I added some 3/8" holes (6 of them) to the rear of the KDX snorkel.

Thanks for the idea Brian.

Matt

The stock main jet was left in as per the local mechanics suggestion due to the elevation. And yes, a plug reading will be done very soon. It is running good with no lean pop, etc. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for the add'l info mmatz. If you can throw a pic up of your version I would appreciate it. I think I can visualize what you are saying, but a pic speaks a bunch of words (in the hundreds, I hear )

Thanks,
Chris

No problem, but I can't take credit for it - I got the idea from vfrpilot, I think it was. So we can both thank him!
