yes as long as you haven't drilled the spark arrestor out previously, cutting the straw out of the end of the muffler should not affect it at all.

drilling of the spark arrestor is pointless IMO. After cutting the end of the can off and seeing how everything was designed, i've come to the belief that exhaust flow is restricted by the end cap and the crappy little straw only.

Im thinking of welding a small plug over the 'straw' and then drilling the center of it with a hole saw(to guide the drill bit), and then slip fit and TIG in a 1" to 1.5" piece of thin wall tubing in its place. It will look nearly stock, but with a much larger 'straw' possibly now a garden hose

The other option is to get one of the KLX300 tips and use some steel threadserts aligned with the mounting holes to install it.

Whatcha think?

That is almost the route i went, but my method was free so it won out.
