Default Steering Stabilizer Recommendation

Can anyone recommend a steering stabilizer? Does installation void the factory warranty?

I believe GPR brand dampener has been successfully installed on this bike. Send a PM to Bill Blue for details. He makes a handy little brakets that allows a clean install on the 250S.

I've been in the market for a damper for a while now. I looked mostly at Scotts, GPR, and Motosportz. There's also WER, but I was limited in that their web site doesn't appear to work with Safari on the Mac so they kind've eliminated themselves at least for me. I ended up buying the Motosportz for various reasons. But in the end, the folks that I talked to that have used all three say they can't really tell any practical difference between any of them as far as the way they make the bike feel.

Here's the Motosportz - I just got it installed tonight, but it's too late for a test ride so that will have to wait for tomorrow.

Man, I goofed. Bill Blue makes a bracket for mounting the W.E.R. steering stabilizer. A fella posting here by the board name 'Bake' has one installed on this bike and reports very good results.

I'd like to install a steering stabilizer, but there seems to be an interferance problem with the Clarke tank. It fits so close to the steering stem, there isn't room for the collar and boss that attaches to the stabilizer arm. Any thoughts on this? Bill Blue, does your retrofit work with the Clarke tank?

Do a search of Bake's posts. He has pics of the damper setup and I think its a fender mounted unit and the arm is attached to a bracket on the side of the frame, I've been wrong before though.

I know it's definitely fender mounted. There shouldn't be any interference issues regardless ofwhich tank you are using. Top mounted stabilizers are another story.

Yeah, I don't think you will notice awhole lot out in the dirt unless you are really hauling azz. Bake says his KLX 'wanders' less with the dampener installed. I assume he's speaking of staight line stability while slab riding.I get some prettynoticeable head shake while powering out of a corners at 60+mph...Youcan sometimes avoid it bynotbeing too abrupt in your steering input, but mid corner bumps will also set it off. I have a feeling a damper would help with that, but they're so friggin expensive for such an itty bitty part.
