Default Steering dampner?

Anyone have one? What brand? Does it work well? I ride in sand and at high speed I can get quite a bit of head shake. Let me know!

Kevin,

I don't have one, but have considered getting one. I believe that the W.E.R. dampener for the KLX300 will work but needs a bracket. Bill Blue has manufactured one for at least a couple of bikes.

I basically got talked out of the dampener by a couple of old timers. For the trails that I ride, a lot of the them can be pretty tight and the negatives of a dampener just get in the way when trying to turn quickly like in closely spaced trees. Well that's what they said. I'm sure that they have their benefits and I might even like one if I tried it. However at $400 or so on top of the advice hasn't put this high on my priority list. Maybe someday it'll work its way up.

Thanks for the reply! I ride very fast sand trails 70mph plus I do get head shake! My road racing back ground helps but sometimes after 60 miles it gets old. I think a steering dampner is In order.

I get a little wobble on the road at high speed sometimes as well.
Had a Rottweiler come out of nowhere the other night; latched onto my leg and got some headshake of his own, wish I would have had a steering dampner handy to shove up his a**.
