The mod will let you ride in 2' deep water...how deep do you think the bike should go? If you have taken off the little oil resovior for the air box...the air box will take on water before the carb vent. My .02

yes... thats what im sayin... but i dont know if the water would get in the intake before the carb, like he said it might fill up the airbox before that.... im just thinking out loud guys.... dont know anything for sure...

Now that I think of it, I guess if there is no outlet for the air in the stock config, then the water would not be able to displace the air that is in there. Is that your point? If so, is is possible for the air to displace up through the carb?

I guess it all comes down to whether or not there is a path for the air in the vent line to escape if the water level rises up to the carb.

...if I ever got into water that deep, I'd be saying...

There is a technique for riding or driving in deep water. Basically you stay right behind the water wake that is coming off the front of your vehicle. But you are screwed if you stop or get stuck in the deep water.

Uh yea.......not a big fan of deep water, I mean I'll cross a 10ft creek that is a foot deep, but that's about it. And if you do get stuck in water get out as fast as you can or you could end up like this:

And if you want to avoid the water all together then give this a try.

Just a quick update on the subject, when i went back to the bike with my trusty cup of water and put the vent hoses in, i watched the carb suck water right up and in! Did the "T" vent fix, ran through the same water holes....Problem solved! Thanks again to all for the info! Oh yeah, Nice pics

WOW the carb can take in water and it will still run? WTF. Should the oil be changed after each deep water ride?

Nice job! It's good to actually get the cold hard facts. I was having a hard time with the kickstand theory because the water would have to be pretty darn conductive to make that happen.

Marty, you're a genius! Here's what i just did... Removed KS switch from bike(still wired up), put bike on stand so it could idle in 1st with the clutch out(rear wheel off ground).
submerged switch in large cup water....Bike didn't stop. Took the three lines from the carb and put the ends under...it stopped running! Now i'm going to do each line one at a time and see which one is the culprit. Keep ya posted on the results.
Thanks for the help.
