spokes rims and nipples
hi guys
currently getting ready to ear down my bike to have the frame swingarm and some other bits powder coated.
now looking at my wheels, and they are looking a bit sorry for them selves. The front rim ans pokes i may be able to polish up after a case of beerīs time.
But the rear is corroded a bit and the spokes show signs of pitting and rust, and i think they may be beyond the help of polish.
so here are my current wheel plans
I plan to atleast have the hubs poder coated maybe green
the rims spokes and nipples are the main question
plan A
have the powder coater do the rims to if not beyond repair
and buy oem spokes and nipples (cost alot 500$ in the EU lol)
plan B
buy new rims spokes and nipples 3rd party
if i buy 1.60x21 36H and 2.15x18 36H rims they should fit (example goldspeed)
spokes either buy from 3rd part or OEM
would love some advice here or even plan C

I built one rear wheel out of two. I had a good hub on a bad rim and vice versa.
I had a hard time finding spokes and nipples. I think I ended up using a kit for a KDX200 that was around $100.
The problem I ran into was the nipples were bigger than the rim was drilled for, so I carefully drilled the spoke holes in the rim.
If you are replacing anything more than spokes and nipples, I would be inclined to buy a wheel.
Why not just re-use what you have (as long as they are fine after disassembly)? Take it apart, clean, and reassemble with or without paint/powder?

a new wheel here is about 1000$
u have been told that re-using spokes could be bad
tomorrow i am gonna call the powder coater to check about pricing for the weels
if i buy a new rims as long i they have the same specs 36 holes and width they should fit (found some at about 100$ a piece)
and if i buy new spokes 4mm (oem spec) and about the same length with nipples it should work?

I remember seeing a vid, laying the rim flat on the hub and measuring the spacing to the rim. Measurement to ensure the completed rim sits even in the seingarm when your done. Good luck post pics!
