spark arrestors

RE: spark arrestors
Moab, Yes. I cut 7 inches off my muffler and welded it back together. I'll post pics of it when I get a chance. I don't want to be in the wrong when I get to Moab this Easter.
Thunderchild,
When the weather warms up, we need to hit up Bulcher (Muenster). I was thinking the other day that I need to go watch the last man standing. Pulled it up online and, damn, it was last weekend.

RE: spark arrestors
The particles would most likely be bits of carbon build-up (e.g. black "soot" on the spark plug insulator) that break free and get blown out with the exhaust. They will most likely be glowing red hot from the combustion chamber, and would only be heated even more when going through the catalytic converter.

RE: spark arrestors
Thunderchild,
With a little extra effort, I could have spared the spark arrestor and put it in place of the baffle that is in there. We could also leave an extra inch to put the arrestor and the baffle in there. If we can find some time and you want it done, I'm up for it. I used a piece of mandrel bent tubing for the tip, but it was my last piece so we would have to do something else. From what I've read on spark arrestor inspections, If the muffler is not labeled or suspect of not having an arrestor the official will use a feeler and flashlight for verification.
