Welcome to the KLR family. I picked mine up last November to compliment the KLX as a commuter and highway bike and am somewhat embarrassed to say it's racking up more miles than the KLX. MPGs are close when riding similar stuff. For such a Fugly bike, it sure is popular.

Yup. KLX Riding sweep to help pick that heavy thing up!

And why is he looking right down at his front wheel?

Yep, the KLR seems like a heavy beast but the way my buddy Brian rides it, I think it will be fine on the dirt. We did Lippencott Road in Death Valley and he was way ahead of me on his KLR while I was on the KLX. Hopefully, my skills can handle it. I wish it was the beginning of summer rather than fall so we could do some multiday rides.

He likes that rock to his left. He hasn't heard of "where you look is where you go".

He's looking down at his front wheel to avoid the basketball size rocks. Use your head. LOL

The KLR's are pretty good bikes. I bought a 2008 and put over 60,000 miles on it in three years. This pic is from a ride from the Mexican border to the Canadian border (and back), primarily on Highway 89.

I'd suggest three things:
1. Doohickey
2. Thermo-Bob
3. 685 kit.
