Default Sold the Beemer

Well I sold my BMW F650GS Dakar last week for some good change and it's now just me and the KLX which has been neglected for the past year. Somehow I just didn't fit in with the BMW crowd - too much grease under my fingernails! Had to go to the DMV today and get the KLX re-registered and pay the $50 fine for letting both the tags and insurance lapse on it. Picked up a new battery and plugs for it and I know I'm going to have to pull the carb off again and clean it (damn). Funny to sit on it today, the Dakar was huge in comparison plus it weighed almost 450 pounds - that thing was a beast but had some great trips on it. Almost bought a used 2002 Honda XR650L with 1800 miles on it to replace it but talked myself out of it and decided to kiss and make up with the KLX.

So I'll be spending more time in the Forum and giving Deej some much needed grief!

Below - A small photo tribute to my Beemer, she will be missed.

My OTHER bike is a
BMW R1100RT. Heated seat, electric windshield, 90 HP, 620 lbs, ABS, Fuel Injection, Comfort beyond belief. 400 watt XM radio. I am keeping it for the long trips. It holds 7+ gallons of gas. 123,000 miles on it now.

For going to work and the regular daily driver its the KLX351SF all the way. I also have a 1976 R75/6 airhead I only drive to church on sunday.

I love the looks of the F800GS but it seems to be plagued with way too many problems.

Yeh, best give it a year or 2 so they can iron out the bugs.

Good thread. I was looking at a BMW F800ST which would be a smaller sport touring than my R1100RT. I tend to get kinda stoopid on a bike. My 1100 weighs too much to run back and forth to work or just blast down to the store so I went looking for a smaller bike. All the dealers had were crotch rockets or harley wannabe bikes. I just wanted a small bike I could zoom around with. Then I tried out the KLX250SF. It felt like riding a weed whacker at first, but I liked it and loved the riding position. It was light but not too quick.... So I bought it. Once I had it, I found out how much fun it is. It was short on power so I put in the 351 kit and Eeee HHaaa! what a bike now.
