Solar battery charger
This started off as a backup battery power supply. But I have found other uses for it. Orginally I built it for the spring time when a possible tornado may take out the power and I need a little night time power for the PC or heater. For when the generator is not running. With a builtin battery maintiner, I found it could also be used to keep the KLX battery nicely charged for the winter. I gotta build a simpleir connector thou. Currently I have to remove the battery and place it inside to keep it charged.
You can the tiny KLX battery in the top left corner. Compared to the bigger Group Size 2x 27 deep cycles.
And the battery maintiner. Prevents the batteries from overcharging, venting, and helps revive them a little through PWM charging.

Orginally for the KLX, I wanted to install a cigarette lighter for easy connection for accersories and battery recharging. Didn't do that yet. But I will one day.
The solar panel is rated for 50Watts. With no other loads except charging, it can put in 3 amps of power. Which for the small KLX battery, gets it fully charged in 2 hours.
After charging the KLX battery. I had another idea. I need to put my riding lawn mower battery in their as well for the winter. I guess its time to add another charge controller to keep 3x battery banks well charged.

Solar battery charger 2.0.
I got it upgrade to handle 3x banks of 12V batteries now. And the new added solar charge controller has some new features witch I like. The new controller can do 2x batteries, set the battery type, set which battery gets charged more first, and set the PWM hz rate. Along with updating the solar charger, I figured a way to quickly hook up the KLX without going through the trouble of taking the battery out or removing panels.
On a side note. Finally got my dad to pull his motorcycle battery for the winter. Since his Honda Nighthawk seems to keep draining it every time he puts it in the shed. And he really doesn't care if it gets destoryed since it is 3 years old and has been left dead for long periods (the battery that is).
New solar charge box improvements.
KLX quick battery hook up for charging. The little adapter in my hand is for the clamps to connect to and connect to the KLX battery. Roughly simple, but works.
