I was thinking the same thing. I've got way bigger problems if my bottle ever gets crushed.

New problem... I finally got around to installing my new reservoir, and it doesn't fit. The part number I keep finding online matches up with what my dealer sent me. 43078-0001 is on the packaging in no less than three different places. It's hard to get precise measurements with the shape of the thing, but from what I came up with, it looks like from the bottom mounting hole to the top of the opening, the new one measures about 0.5" higher than the old one. I didn't spend too much time messing with it, but, because of the height of the reservoir I couldn't even get my number plate close to lining up. It also wraps around behind the frame, where the original one didn't. That isn't an issue as far as fitment, but it is another difference.

Is there any chance the part got packaged incorrectly?

It's hard to get a good comparison. In the the pic from the side, I lined up the bolt holes as well as I could, and that's about how far off the tops are. notice the difference in angle of the cover.

Haven't looked at mine in a while but your new one looks like an 09+ tank.

Thats what i was thinking... I know on my 06 the lid is close to the side panel as it is and with your new tank its farther out...

I wondered if that might have been the case. My cousin has a 2011 (that i picked up cheap so i could flip it, and ended up selling to him for what i paid, rather than pocketing some cash for myself. that's a story for another time.) I'll try and get a look at it tonight.
