So I got my Big Gun this weekend, There's a problem

RE: So I got my Big Gun this weekend, There's a problem
In the big picture, both Big Gun and Muzzy are good products, but as everyone's heard, both companies have had their share of mistakes the escaped through Quality Control ... which is one of the reasons why companies have Customer Service.
The point of this and other threads is that Customer Service should make up for those mistakes and give companies the chance to "do the right thing". The problem we're seeing too often is that Customer Service is turning out to be as bad as the problems they're there to resolve.
Hopefully, most customers are like Bad Bear and IowaGuy ... they get what they were looking for and they're happy with their purchases. Sometimes Customer Support needs to kick in, and people like EMS_0525 get customer satisfaction that way.
But if something's changed at Big Gun, and people like LV and myself are not getting a reasonable level of customer satisfaction, there's a problem. We can't screw Big Gun like they're screwing us, because unfortunately, they have the upper hand.
But we can help others avoid similar circumstances. Let others know that if you choose to do business with Big Gun, the only thing you might be getting is a good product ... good service is not part of the deal.
Bad Service = Bad Press
The soapbox is now free for the next speaker ...

P.S. - Man, wouldn't it be something if Muzzy's was reading THIS!!!

I was wondering when I would hear from you. I figured you would jump in sooner or later. Your right, You and I see eye to eye on most issues that seem to come up on this board. Scary isnt it. Maybe were just Right or Maybe You and I are just hard core A**holes. Ask most people on this board and they would probably say the Later I think but who gives a Flying F*ck right. You have backed me up and I have backed you up so let me see if I can answer some of your comments. Beside dude it's people like you and me that make these boards Interesting and Alive. Everybody goes to the Controversial Post First.
Nope not at all. I purchased a Big Gun because I already had experience with them from my DR, Didnt like the spring and peg issues of the muzzy and just liked the overall look of the big gun better then the FEW Alternitives out there. No, I have nothing against Big Gun Or Muzzy.
It's a big deal when it's a Brand New product and I shouldnt have to deal with it. Yes the screws should be in there tight But I actually started to bend my allen wrench before it finally slipped. I think even you would agree that's Too tight. When the 2 of them finally did break free it was a Loud Crack almost like a .22 going off.
Nope, not at all. I removed the Big gun sticker because I think it will look better without it. I have also removed all the stickers on the Klx except the shroud decals, the reflectors / stickers on my sporty and I will remove the reflectors from the Klx as well. Why, because IMHO it looks better.
As far as removing this and removing that goes with a new item well I like to tinker But the main reason was because the screen nor the vortex were installed. The red endcap has to be removed to install those Even though the documentation states there already installed.
They have to be torn apart sometime bro. If not to install the included items then to repack the dam thing.
I have no issues with what your saying, You and I are good. I never knocked the product, Only their Customer Service and the Bonehead who held his finger a little to long on the air ratchet. Yes I stripped the screw's so it's my issue and I will deal with it but it does go back to the bonehead who installed my screws and therefore Big Guns themselves.
As far as the 40 buck colored tail piece, it goes back to why I removed the sticker. The red cap doesnt Fit the bike. Someone had a Green cap and it looks good but To Me the green doesnt do it either. Nope, the black cap would look best on our bikes I think. maybe I wont buy one. Maybe I will paint mine but who knows.
Bottom line for me is I will probably buy the Real quite core and black end cap just to get it over with and then never buy a Big gun system again for Any Bike. Not because it's a bad product but because of it's customer service. As a Consumer thats all I can do.
Now let me ask you a question. I joined this forum right at the end of the muzzy/bg debate. I have watched you defend bg like I have never seen anyone before except when I was defending Harley's. Someone once cracked that you owned stock in Big Gun. It would make perfect sense if it was true. I'd like to know Why Bro, why you defend Big Gun the way you do. I'm sure others would like that answer as well. Honest Answer now.....

but tbh, on this one it sounds like you were trying to find something wrong with the product.

And removing messed up screws with the heads torqued off is no big deal. And if those screws weren't in there so tight they would vibrate right out like mine did over time.

To spend that kind of money on a pipe and to get it and the first thing you do is peel emblems off and remove this and try and remove that, that imo is fishing for trouble. Sure they probably use the cheapest screws/bolts they can to keep the price down but they probably do not plan on people tearing them apart as soon as they're taken off the ups truck.

I know you don't like what I'm saying but it's just my take. You got the right product, now use some tools and fix it since you were the one who stripped the heads of those screws in the first place. Do you know the colored accessory tailpieces are like $40? Why would you want to change that anyways, you already tore the BG emblem off so why would you care what color the tailpiece is? I know I'll be accused of this and that and thought of in many ways for posting this opinion, but it's just as I see it. Sorry..............

Wow, to receive a post like I sent your way and to reply to it the way you did demanded respect from me to you. I'm glad you took it the way you did, because it was just the way I saw things and was not meant to **** you off or to show you I could care how you were feeling.
I guess I never thought about repacking the thing or installing accessory items, so those bolts would have to come out eventually. I don't really know why they install them so darn tight, but maybe if you put the pipe on and rode it and let it heat up and then try and remove the screws they may be easier to take out since they're hot. I dunno, just a thought.
As far as me defending BG so adamantly (sp), I do and I know I do. I am so **** retentive it's not funny and when I was researching pipes for this KLX, I really researched. I mean spending hours on end reading every forum and information I could find. BG was the real deal. It's new technology and not just a pipe that's been around since 1997 when the 300 came out. It's proven and has many impressive wins and the owner of the company is a championship racer. Their pipes are very well built and look very nice with the nice welds and oval canister. It's just a nice system. It looks nicer than any other exhaust pipe imo.
I got my pipe and went over it with a magnifying glass, or my 2 eyes. It was flawless, and believe me, I check everything over down to the best granny smith apples at the grocery store or nicest peppers.
It went on my bike like me and my wife fit together in every position which is perfect and the minute I started it up to the minute I twisted the throttle I had ear to ear grins. The only problem I had was the screws vibrating out some time which BG replaced immediately for free.
I guess the main reason I defend the BG against the Muzzy is for potential buyers of either. People need to know about the Muzzy. Putting an exhaust on a brand new motorcycle and then having to either remove the passenger footpegs or DENT in the darn pipe is something that needs to be known for potential buyers. If they get the Muzzy and find this out then, they're screwed. Also, bluing of the Muzzy is another thing that buyers need to know- it will happen. This is not a problem for BG in either aspect. When I have something I find or believe is the best, I want everyone else to have it or know it so they can educate themselves to find out the same. I just want everyone to be as happy as I am, and receiving a pipe, and in order to get it to fit you have to dent the brand new thing in or remove a footpeg is really a bummer to someone who is not warned about it. I guess you and I are different in the area of modifying the look of our bikes. I like to keep most everything about the look of my bike totally stock. If I buy a pipe I want to keep it just as it was built with logos, I'm proud to display my BG emblem. I do not believe in stickers however when I buy an aftermarket item. I will not coat my bike with stickers as I'm not 16 anymore. Now I'm just ra

Hmmmm that's weird, the e-mail notification for this post ended up in the junk mail folder in my outlook e-mail program (2003) I wonder if its because it's so long and full of drama...LOL Just kidding about the drama, but I wonder why its ending up in junk? Weird. Well I'm off to pick up the bike today and man I can't wait. Later all.

But I don't know of anyone who has dented their Muzzy pipe. Maybe they did and I missed it, but there is no need for that. Many folks with recent purchases are reporting that the Muzzy pipe does NOT have any clearance issues with the passenger foot peg. And for us that got them a while back, and I'm telling the honest truth here, I spend literally 30 seconds at the bench grinder and took off about 1/16 inch off the back of my peg so that it cleared. Believe me, it was a lot more work installing my hand guards. 30 seconds. Is that so much to complain about, I mean, really? So did anyone here actually dent their Muzzy pipe? If so, please say so. I'd like to put some of these Muzzy Myths to rest once and for all.

RE: So I got my Big Gun this weekend, There's a problem
Well I was the same way, I mean I have owned a couple dozen vehicles in my lifetime, and not one car or truck had a bumper sticker, but then I started to listen to the greatest Internet radio stations ever, (Classic Rock of course) http://www.1077thebone.com/events/hometown/ Anyway, I got a couple of bumper stickers from them and decided that it was time for a change, of course I had to get two identical stickers and space them evenly on the bumper so it looks even. I did put a few stickers on my bike just to give it that individual look, and I think I'm done. I do think it would be cool to have one of those KF stickers in the back window on the truck. As far as the Muzzy, I never had to nor would I have dented the pipe, I did take off the foot peg and round off the back side and polished it to look stock, I did however have to take off more like 1/4 inch and it still touches when I open it. But once its all the way open it doesn't touch the pipe. I might tweak it some more some day.

I would definitely make an exception for a KF sticker, and that one looks really good, EMS. I may have to get some of yours as well as BigRigs. How many are you getting made?
