The real question is...

Do they still roll?

Oh, and if you end up on them will they keep the bike sliding along further as they roll?

Actually I like it, great idea. I kind of wondered about that. I take it the actual bearings and inner races are gone? I've not had skate board wheels apart so I don't know if the bearings are loose in there or not.

Thanks for the great tip, I may use it on the KLX650.

I believe it's more to protect the bike if you go down.

no...does not roll with one of the bearing out..it's meant to slide...i was told to use the cheapest skateboard wheel because cheap wheels are more plastic and slide better...

i put them on because after some more practice i wanted to take it out on the tracks to learn on...axle sliders are required on the sm track here...i need to go check out the grab bin at tap plastic to get some pieces of plastic for the peg sliders i need to make now...

for the rear, you can go little thicker on the threaded rod, but harder cutting with a hacksaw...for the front, #10-24 was the thicked threaded rod at home depot that fit through the klx

hahaha, the bright blue did look abit awkward in the pics, but I am sure that you are correct in that they would function as needed in the slider department. I tend to just order some black delrin rod stock, drill and counter bore using basically the same hardware as you mention. The front axles are normally hollow, so "all thread" is used to secure my sliders onto the ride.

Apparently few caught the facetiousness intended.

Regardless of the lack of humor and sarcasm, the idea is great. I will likely use it. Thanks for the tip.

Even the regular versions will bend the rod they use. My friend's did so when he dumped it on a gravel road.

Now to go to the local skate park...

So, taking this one step further, what diameter delrin should I use for the axles if I wanted to make my own?

I'm thinking of making my own frame sliders (since I can't find them on ebay anymore) and peg sliders. Bar end sliders and exhaust sliders are easy to find.
