Default Sintered pads

I ordered some brake pads in haste because I think mine are contaminated. I got sintered because I quickly read they were the proper one for off-road. Now I read they eat discs--especially non stainless discs?

I have a EBC supermoto brake rotor. I checked the instructions from it--it goes to great lengths to say it is not stainless OR cast iron but a low carbon steel.

My question is: Can I use sintered pads on a) my low carbon steel disc b) my stock stainless disc with minimal wear? Tremor?

I have used Sintered pads for all my street bikes for years. Sintered pads are more aggressive so they will wear your rotors faster then other types of pads. They give a much better initial bite for racing or track use. I have never thought of using them on a dirt bike, I wonder if that extra bite would be too much for loose or low traction?

Rotors last a long time even with Sintered pads, I guess it depends on how much you want more aggressive feeling brakes vs longevity of your brake system.

Thanks I installed last night figuring as much that even if they wear faster its still going to be pretty slow. No ride yet though--was raining.

Used EBC sintered on my '02 KLR for 40K miles(original rotors, three sets of pads), and have had the on the KLX for 3K. No adverse side effects yet.

Ionly usethe sintered pads as well.I like DP or Moose pads. DP makes pads for Moose to their specifications. I have also heard good comments about Galfer sintered pads but have nottried them yet. The sintered pads are a must if you ride in wet and or muddysituations as they will grab better and last longer in those conditions. If you only ride in dry conditions you may get a little longer rotor/pad life with a carbon type pad. For all around type of riding, on/off road,I think sintered is the way togo.
