Signal lights not working

Took the bike out from winter storage yesterday. Noticed my left signal lights were not working. If I turn the key on then hit the switch and use the right signals everything is good. As soon as I use the left signals then then both the right and left wont work after until I turn the key off and back on again.
I am totally brain dead when it comes to electronics and have no idea where to start. I think its in the signal light switch. Has there been any known issues with them in the past? Anyone have a good online site for cheap klx switches and oem parts?
The bike is a 2006 klx250

Take the blinker switch apart... get some Tpins (sewing pins shaped like the letter T) so you can probe the unit unobtrusively and do some real diagnostics... you needa get a test light, logic probe, or dmm in that unit and find out if its working up to par. Sorry if I'm speaking tongues, diagnostics is a hobby of mine.

Without actually being there to see the bike this sounds like it is either a simple or complex matter... most likely complex I'm guessing (by that I mean I don't think its a fuse or something lol). Like I said before; Tpins and a Continuity tester are going to be the ticket to solve this I bet.

Have you ever wired in a new blinker on this bike? I did on mine and was in a hurry and somehow got something funny where the right side would work sometimes, but usually it would just blink once and then shut off. Left usually worked after that, but not always. I went back through my wiring very carefully this winter, soldered it all up with heat shrink covering, and also pulled the switch off and shot some contact cleaner in there and it works fine now. I was expecting to have to do the diagnostics like mentioned above, but fixing my poor earlier work and cleaning the switch did the trick. Good luck.

Since both blinkers on the same side are affected, then it has to be in the switch, or the connection that splits to both lights. But the best way is to start at the end point this being either one of the blinkers. Take the cover off, remove the lamp and then put a good 12v lamp tester in there. Start there and work backwards.
