Default Was that sign only a suggestion?

Finally went past one of those signs that reads "begin minimum maintenance road."

hmm ... around here we have signs that say "end road maintenance". And there are many of these.

The road i live on is such a road. Those types are great when i'm on the KLX, but the Ninja... not so much.

Dont have those signs here. I think the concept of road maintence never cleared customs on its way to the island. Heck my road would be nice if they finished it. Its been about a year waiting for them to resolve a dispute on the asphault formulation!

Here is a sign on all forest service roads close by. No, it is not a suggestion.

The Grizzly Bears don't bother me, it's the Wolves that I am worried about.

I'm pretty upset with the Colorado Department of Transportation. Last week I was up there on Stoner Mesa near Dolores and turned off a well maintained dirt road. There was no warning that I would be confronted with the horrid conditions presented in this attached pic. And to top it off, there was no bear warning sign, and just minutes from when this pic was taken, a very large black bear was observed running at full tilt down the trail in front of me. I tell ya...how does Colorado expect out-of-towners to be fully and safely informed about the dangerous and hazardous conditions that can exist out there if they don't put up some signs?

You mean like this? Ran into this a few years ago while out bear hunting...it was so fresh that I thought someone left a blackberry pie on the road, still hot...LOL

deej, bear hunting with a pistol? You're braver than me. I'd want nothing less than a 12-gauge slug loaded pump shotgun.

Talk about fresh bear pies, I was mountainbiking in the Silver City, NM area a few years ago. It was a chilly fall morning, and I rounded a corner on the trail. I saw what I thought was smoke rising off the ground. It turned out to be bear poop so warm that vapors were coming off of it in the cool air. I took a 35mm pic of the poop pile with my bike helmet beside it to show that the pile was as big as my large MTB helmet. Then it struck me that the bear couldn't be far away...not sure why the delay in that important piece of survival info. I pedaled away cautiously...and very vigilant.
